The amount of money spent in devoloping computer technology is incredible. The power and speed it affords us is invaluable… But what can you do with these scrap computer once they have finally broken down and thrown in the cards?

The truth is that many scrapped computers are worth much more then scrap prices. The problem is, nobody is willing to buy them if they don’t know what is wrong. If you can clearly articulate the problems or broken parts of the computer, then you will be able to sell them for much more than scrap value on eBay.

Now, we can agree that the value of the computer tower is not in the steel that it s composed of. Shred value of a computer is only going to be maybe a dollar or two. The real value of the computer is in its gold bearing components. For example, the scrap computer gold in a CPU will be about a dollar. The value of the RAM and the motherboards also are due to their precious metal content.

The only value that comes from base metals really comes from the aluminum hard drive. The hard drive of a computer is cast aluminum, and stainless steel, with a little extra nickel mixed in for the ride. Most Scrap yards will buy these hard drives.

The ability of a person to quickly and accuratly disassemble these scrap components accuratly will be enough to make it commercially viable to scrap them. Scrapping the aluminum, gold, paladium, and precious metal bearing scrap PCI and DIMMS SIMMS, ect, is a chore. You will definitly want to know How to Scrap a Computer.

Remember that the scrap motherboards will be worth about 3 dollars a pound in todays market, and most heavy CPUs awill be worth about 2 dollars a peice. The light ones are worth about 50¢ a peice.
