Why Beef Jerky is Good For Losing Weight – It’s High in Protein

Who would have know that beef jerky is goof for losing weight? But apparently it is, and this is because it is very high in protein. Protein is the building blocks of the muscles, so the more muscle building foods you eat, the more muscle you build and fat you lose, or this is the best case scenario.

One ounce of beef jerky has only 1 gram of fat, it also contains 12 grams of protein, approximately 80 calories and no fiber or carbohydrates. Unfortunately some brands of jerky are high in salt and contain some sugar. If you are going to use jerky as a diet snack food, try to find a low salt option, eating too much salt is not good for anyone.

Beef Jerky = Protein

Every single time you eat food, your body needs to receive protein, this is the only way it is able to keep up protein reserves. Unlike Vitamin D, protein cannot be absorbed from the sun. Protein controls the levels of sugar in the blood, and controlling this prevents cravings and hunger.

Because beef jerky is high in protein it is the perfect snack food that is low in calories and fat. Protein has another gift, it increases your metabolism, an increased metabolism means you burn off unwanted calories even while at rest and you stay full longer. It also increases your energy levels and this encourages you to exercise more.

Some people are talking about incorporating certain days in your diet when you only eat say beef jerky and fruit and take supplements as well as drink a lot of water. This is a fast fat burner, to flatten your tummy quickly.

Some people eat beef jerky 4 days a week while supplementing it with fruit or juice, water and diet coke as well as vitamins and minerals and this is supposed to work really fast. But I am no diet expert, you may need to do a little more research into a diet as excessive as this. But this does encourage you to eat more sensibly on the days that you are not eating beef jerky, because your energy levels are better.

Most people who have tried this process are eating approximately 12 ounces of beef jerky a day. The consumption is spread throughout the entire course of the day.

Snack foods on these days could be nuts, protein bars (sugar free), seeds, fruit, cheese, peanut butter, or yoghurt, and you must exercise, even if it is only walking a couple of days a week.
