Hair develops from the dermis. There are different types all over the human body. It comes in a variety of textures and colors. Its primary physiological purpose is to protect. Despite its purpose, many individuals choose to remove it through shaving, cutting, waxing and laser removal. In most cultures, it is used to indicate how healthy or youthful an individual is. Hair treatment is the way most people maintain their locks.

A commonly-practiced method people use to maintain their locks is washing and conditioning. Shampoo and conditioner products, when combined with water, can cleanse the scalp and strands of dirt and debris. Brushing your head is another way to keep it clean and maintained. Natural oils spread around the head when it is being brushed or combed.

Styling the locks is not uncommon. There are different tools used to do this such as headbands, blow dryers, rollers, straightening and curling irons and clips. An individual can change the look and feel of their locks by using relaxers, perms and dye jobs.

Dandruff is a condition that afflicts many people. It occurs when dead skin begins to flake up. It may also be a result of fungus. Though it is not dangerous or contagious, it can be embarrassing. Luckily shampoos, creams and prescription medicines are available to fix this problem.

Another common issue is breakage. Breakage can appear at the base of the strand or at the end. Split ends can travel up the shaft. Dry hair is more prone to breakage. Other things that can cause breakage: brushing or combing too frequently, improper use of chemicals, extensions and braids.

Normally humans lose their hair, but what is lost replaces itself. Hair loss is when hair falls out and does not grow back. This is usually a result of genetics- balding or alopecia. The loss can be a symptom of many more serious options. Many products claim to reverse the loss, but products that have not been approved by the government or health agencies should not be readily taken. Transplants are a more effective way to reverse the problem, but they can be costly. Some prescribed medications can stop or slow down the process.
