iPod File Type Error?

All right, the process I used to get a DVD on my iPod was this:

You may change the video dimensions from 569×480 to 640×480. Here you may see details of iPod support video parameters:

I recommend you to try Daniusoft DVD to iPod Converter which I used good now. It could help you convert any dvd to iPod video with only three steps. Also it let you set the movie effects, crop/ trim video.
